waning crescent moon

A waning crescent (appearing to be getting smaller), the last phase of the moon. Depicts the moon as a cratered disk, with its left side illuminated by a thin, golden or silvery crescent, and the rest of it dark. Can be used to represent the moon, nighttime, outer space, and astronomy. Can also be used to express an enchanted or eerie feeling. See also "waning crescent". Not to be confused with "waning moon", although their applications may overlap. Used as part of the moon emoji creep memo. Samsung's design once resembled a full moon with stars, and was previously shown as a crescent moon in a night sky with stars.
