last quarter moon

A last quarter moon, the seventh of eight phases of the moon. The moon is a cratered disk with its left half lit by golden or silver lights, the rest of it dark. Can be used to represent the moon, nighttime, outer space, and astronomy. Can also be used to express an enchanted or eerie feeling. See also 🌜. Not to be confused with 🌓, although their applications may overlap. Used as part of the moon emoji creep memo. Samsung's design once resembled a full moon with stars, previously shown as a last quarter moon in a night sky with stars.
